Well, as a massage therapist we have to pass a 24 hour course every two years to keep massage license. These classes can be in any modality we choose, deep tissue, myofascial trigger point release, reflexology, ayurveda massage, Thai massage, tuina, amma, Californian massage, esalen massage, medical massage, Craniosacral. Some courses are live hands-on and really you get the best training in this way and learn the most as you can practice new skills you are learning about real people. But I also found that many LMT'S (licensed massage therapists) order videos to watch at home to practice, and then they can pass a test online where you will be asked a series of questions and need a certain number of correct answers to pass and get your certification in whatever modality, you take!
The videos that go usually with a books, as is most of the times about 30 pages long and ends with a test where you can test your learning, so when you are ready, having practiced the exercises on a living person, a friend of yours, or a family member, you can go to their website and pass the real testwhere you are required to have at least 60 percent right answer. If you do not you are able to pass again and pay a fee for back pay; some of these courses are very expensive 300-400 dollars, if you order the videos and texts. The State of Florida requires 24 hours of CEUS every two years.
